Lauren Warhol Caldwell and Tom Miller, by popular demand, perform their most popular Jack and Jill productions.
1.) Jack & Jill Go Downtown
In this sharp, hilarious short play, the classic nursery rhyme gets a very modern upgrade. Jack and Jill abandon their hill in search of a simple night out downtown—only to be thwarted by impossible parking, maddening apps, predatory meters, and overly enthusiastic parking ambassadors.
A witty, timely satire on urban access, local bureaucracy, and the everyday obstacles that keep people from supporting their own downtown, Jack & Jill Go Downtown proves that sometimes the pail of water is the least of your problems.
BRIEF INTERMISSION SO THE AUDIENCE CAN WINE!
2.) Jack & Jill - BANNED!
In this sharp, Kafkaesque satire, the classic nursery rhyme heroes return — only to discover their own story has been redacted, censored, and banned. Determined to reclaim the missing verses, Jack and Jill climb the hill once more, but find the well poisoned with propaganda, the path patrolled by authoritarian forces, and reality itself unraveling under the control of a Narrator losing her grip on the plot.
A side-splitting confrontation with book-banning, rising authoritarianism, and the assault on critical thought in Florida — where even fairy tales aren’t safe.
Written and performed by Tom Miller and Lauren Caldwell, with special appearance by Sara Morsey.
